Excerpt from Rooted Movement (2021)
Rooted movement is a five-part film series. It comes from the idea that our deep emotions are rooted inside of us and often come out subconsciously through our actions. This project is the exploration of how all humans have their own way of expressing deep-seated emotions. During the first four films, the viewer comes across the dancer and becomes involved and connected with this personal and vulnerable movement. The series wraps up with the final piece, which is listed above. It is an exploration of how the act of sharing emotions with others through movement is a vulnerable and courageous act.
Dancers: Maribeth Van Hecke, Andrew Niedbala, Jazlyn Ruiz, and CArolny Pampalone-Rabbers
Excerpt from Tragedies of the Soul (2020)
Tragedies of the Soul is a work based on the statute, "The Solitude of the Soul" by Lorado Taft. He wrote, "The thought is the eternally present fact that however closely we may be thrown together by circumstances...we are unknown to each other." Thus, Tragedies of the Soul was a piece created of four tragic storylines coming together that can relate to one another in pain but yet still know each other not.
Dancers: Andrew Niedbala, Maribeth Van Hecke, Liv Panozzo, and Megan Elseth
Die Kreatur (2018, 2019, 2020)
Die Kreatur is inspired by the individual and the inner beast inside a person. Thea beast may be insecurities, fears, anger, or whatever else you as the audience member may find relatable. This work asks the question, "Will you let your inner beast consume you or will you over come your inner beast?"
Dancer: Lachan Jaarda
Entropy Can Only Increase
This work is inspired by the 2nd Law of Thermodynamics: Entropy can only increase in an isolated system. I was playing with movement qualities of chaos and randomness being built over time. This also played into how we as people ignore each other in our daily lives and don't fully invest in others. Due to our lack of connection, it causes people to feel life is chaotic without the connection and support of others in life.
Dancers: Stacia Tibbetts, Tori Homann, Kathryn Schofield, Andi Yost, Marli Carmack, Emma Speers, Catherine Koeman
